A Resolution Assignments are a series of meditations designed to affect change over time.

Our pandemic reality is generating mental health challenges for even the healthiest people. Fortunately, we do have good news on the horizon. And to help get us there, I have created these morning exercises to help us feel better about ourselves and our lives.

These should only take a few minutes and they are fairly straightforward. I would recommend that you plan a regular time in the morning to read them. Then execute them immediately if at all possible. It’s also important to note that, for them to have an effect they must be done earnestly. They are easily worth the effort.

The Meditations

  1. Make a list of the three most important things you need to get done today. Then write down how long it’ll take for you to finish each thing. Then, calculate the number of hours between now and when you go to bed. Then subtract the time it will take for those three tasks, plus at least two hours for eating and the bathroom etc.. Whatever is left is how much time we each have left for everything else today. And now we are aware of it, we will manage that time more wisely.

  2. Say this to yourself –out loud and into a mirror if possible:

“I am a good person. I am deserving of people’s love. I do not need to criticize myself into being a better person. These are already very difficult times where I have little control. That is why I intend to do these daily meditations. They will allow me to start each day feeling in control. And my resulting actions will help me to realize the best within me. I enter this year as a good person. I will finish this year as an even better person. And I will do that by loving and accepting myself more completely. I am ready.”

  3. Watch this short video. When it’s done, take action to leave any and all groups or social media feeds that focus on difference, conflict, anger or opposition. Let’s make this year about positive, compassionate responses to the world.

That’s it. We’re done. It’s that easy. Taken each day, small steps will get us where we are going. I am happy to have you doing them along with me. Here’s to a prosperous 2021 for us all.
