Raising a child is a complex task. You want them to feel great about themselves but you also want to instill that the world is a cooperative place and others must be respected. Tip one way and you raise a selfish, self-important person who feels losses at others gains, or you tip the other way and raise an acquiescent pushover who can never represent their own interests.
