That’s right where it starts. Someone has a single thought. It’s probably the result of some fluke intersection of two or three other ideas in the person’s head, but emerging from that collision of dynamics will be an insight—a new idea.
Having imagined that, a person then realises there are some unforeseen hurdles. But in imagining those, solutions may also appear. This continues on until the person has the first notion to actually attempt to create an idea and then turn it into tangible form or patentable process. Everything starts as a thought. Including our egos. The less we think our selves into existence, the more brainpower we have available to both problem-solve and exercise creativity.
Here’s a case where a man named Dergin Tokmak chose to see a limitation as an opportunity. By developing incredible, artful, stunningly athletic responses to his creative needs, he has proven that every individual brings their own unique perspectives to every aspect of life.
There is no way to live other than fully. Stop worrying. Dive in. It’s fun.
(PS-The second part is even more amazing than the first part.)

Scott McPherson is an Edmonton-based writer, public speaker, and mindfulness facilitator who works with individuals, companies and non-profit organizations locally and around the world.
A serious childhood brain injury lead Scott to spend his entire life meditating on the concepts of thought, consciousness, reality and identity. It made others as strange to him as he was to them. When he realized people were confused by their own over-thinking, Scott began teaching others to understand reality. He is currently CBC Radio Active’s Wellness Columnist, as well as a writer, speaker and mindfulness instructor based in Edmonton, AB where he still finds it strange to write about himself in the third person.
