1 Relax and Succeed - Believe nothing no matter where you read it

This blog began in 2012 as a series of facebook posts that were responding to common misconceptions I saw expressed about common spiritual or psychological memes seen routinely on the internet.

I began a series of actual blog posts by going deeper into famous quotes, or pointing out the hidden dangers in others. In addition to those, I have also done periods of answering questions from readers or clients, as well as periods where I focused on narrative storytelling, or the essay form, as teaching devices. I did take 2018 off, due to intensified care for my parents.

2020 began with a series of posts on reality that were interrupted by posts targeted at the addressing the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. I continued to post several times per week right up until April of 2022, when the demands of my parents Covid-era dementia care became too overwhelming. My father then had a peaceful death in November of that year, and the time since then has been dedicated to getting life back on a schedule that will allow me to add other work.

It is important to note that, while everything I write was and will be accurate in principle, little of it should be interpreted as literally true. For the obvious sake of privacy, I reorganize and mix and match elements from various true stories. I mix and alter identities, times, and events, so the posts are best read as parables or essays with fictional examples. The point isn’t the delivery–it’s the underlying truth that all of the posts are always referring to.

My readers include those into mental health, psychology, new age spirituality, established major religions, and more science-minded people seeking a logical explanation to their experience of reality. What I’m saying is always the same, but each post may switch which subculture terms I’ll refer to. Sometimes it’s physics point, sometimes it’s a farming metaphor,  and sometimes it’s Zen. It’s whichever one suits the purpose–they all tell the truth.

It took me over 30 years to learn that other people were taking their internal thinking seriously. After 20 years of studying that, I got another big lesson during the pandemic. I learned that I had underestimated how ‘real’ thought can feel to people that grow up inside of it their entire lives. This had lead to new approaches when I teach, and I’m now editing my intended book to incorporate what I’ve learned.

As of this writing, I plan to re-start some form of posting before the end of 2023. As always, if you find the lessons useful, please share them with your loved ones. There is no reason for people to be suffering unnecessarily. The world is changing. The only question is; when will each of us choose to transition away from the crippling restrictions of ego, and toward the freedom of our true, joyful, brilliant, nature?
